5 Reasons to Staycation in Autumn
Crunchy leaves, comfy boots, totally instagrammable hot chocolates…I could talk about why Autumn is my favourite season to staycation all day long.
But, just for you, I’ve condensed this long list into my five top reasons to staycation this Autumn. Read below.
1. Stunning scenery
The scenery in the UK is arguably even more beautiful when covered in hues of red, yellow, orange, brown, and deep blues and greens. The seaside takes on a moody vibe and the countryside becomes a collage of colour. It’s the ulitmate setting for stunning photos and everyone looks good in the glow of golden hour (that gorgeous soft light before sunset is just…).
Even though they may not be the warmest months, according to the statistics it is less likely to downpoar in September, October and November (than July and August). So while a hat may be necessary, your raincoats may be less so.
2. Easy on the budget
For those after a bargain, off-peak prices from September to November are ideal for bagging a cosy cottage or lavish suite that’s within your price point. Plus, many companies will do last-minute deals to fill the gaps after the ‘booking rush’ of the summer holidays has ended.
What’s more, fuel prices in tourist towns and other random items that become inflated across the warmer months return to normal, so you’re not paying a premium on everyday essentials.
3. Ideal temperatures
If you simply can’t deal with a heatwave, Autumn is the best season for just about every activity. The ocean has spent all summer warming up, meaning it’s still pretty comfortable for swimming or surfing come October. Hiking turns from an extreme sport to an enjoyable way to explore your surroundings. Eateries still offer al-fresco dining for those happy to enjoy a hot drink in their big coats. And all that sleep you lost with the too-bright nights and sauna-like bedroom is but a memory.
4. Avoid the crowds
Sure, Summer’s great but have you ever had the beach to yourself? Whether you’re a couple, have pre-school-aged children, or you’re bringing your four-legged family members, staycationing in the quiter Autumn months is a real treat.
Stay in your favourite cafe as long as you want, get to know the local business owners as you peruse their shops or treat yourself to a fancy meal, without having to book. Take advantage of having the shore, forests and footpaths all to yourself and thoroughly explore your destination in peace. Or let excitable youngsters and pups run off their energy on an empty beach!
5. Relax and get cosy
Ultimately, staycations are all about escaping the fast pace of everyday life so you can fully recharge and focus on what matters; spending time with yourself and loved ones in a totally pressure-free setting.
So go pick your cosy accomodation, take advantage of the great seasonal prices and then prepare for an incredible trip. Scout the tastiest looking food in the area, take loads of comfy layers and plan some walks through nature to immerse yourself in refreshing autumn air.
As always, thanks for reading and feel free to share on social media, with family and friends.
